Instagram has inspired so many beauty trends that it’s hard to tell what’s cute and what’s a disaster. To find out for myself, I sacrificed my face and put dozens of trends to the test. Here are my three favorites.
Instagram Beauty Trend #1- The Ordinary AHA BHA Chemical Peel
It’s hard to remember which Instagram model with perfect skin I first saw using this trendy chemical peel. Whoever she was, thank you for sharing this $7 miracle treatment.
I struggle with hormonal acne and hyperpigmentation, but this has been saving my face. Whenever I use this mask, I wake up with clearer, tighter, and more even skin.
Leave it on for only 10 minutes or less because it’s potent. Also, be cautious around your eyes. I had to learn that the hard way.
Instagram Beauty Trend #2- Using a Jade Roller or Gua Sha
I don’t know how to say this without sounding whacky, but I found skincare accounts for babies on Instagram and it’s the best thing ever. They frequently use a Gua Sha stone or jade roller to massage the baby’s adorable face.
They looked so relaxed that I had to try it! Turns out that it’s not only super calming, but great for de-puffing and sculpting the face. I have to hand it to Instagram for this one.
This is the one I use, but you can find them everywhere now thanks to Instagram. In the morning or at night, glide the stone under your eyes, in the hollows of your cheeks, and down your neck to reduce inflammation and puffiness.
Instagram Beauty Trend #3- Adding bright eyeshadow to your inner corner
If you hoard eyeshadow palettes like me, then you have colors that never see the light of day. I love a neutral eye, but some days I want to switch it up.
This beauty trend is perfect for days when you want to dip your toes into bold eyeshadow. You can put neutral eyeshadows on your lid too, like in the photo above, or leave the inner corner shade by itself.
I hope this Instagram trend stays around because I have lots of bright purples, greens, blues, and pinks that I need to use up.
Here’s my take on the trend.
It might be fun to try coordinating your inner corner color with your outfit. Honestly, you can be so creative with this look.
The thing with trends is trial and error. They won’t all be winners, trust me. I tried to give myself fake freckles, and it was an embarrassment.
Thankfully, there’s so many beauty trends on Instagram that anything goes. Paint half your face like the sky, say you saw it on Instagram, and call it a day.
I think I just figured out beauty gurus.
