Regardless of age, it’s important to take care of your skin and make sure it stays healthy and happy. Because let’s face it; with most of our faces, acne has no chill when bringing out our insecurities.
Do you know what’s strange? As a teenager, I never got acne. I probably got a few small blemishes now and then, but my face never suffered from those awful pimples. However, once 2019 came, adult acne came.
By the middle of last year, I grew tired of suffering from random whiteheads who loved popping up beside one another on my skin and throwing–what seemed like–pimple parties. I once knew my face as my bread and butter because I cherished it that way. But with all the breakouts I had, it left me feeling sad and self-conscious.
I changed all of that by taking a trip to the dermatologist for the first time. Basically, all the products I was using for my face were horrible because they were too strong for my sensitive skin. So here are four simple products I now use that has changed my skin for the better!
Cleanse the Skin: Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser
Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser helps preserve moisture, is non-irritating or drying, and is perfect for sensitive, normal to oily, or dry skin. This fantastic, gentle cleanser is what I use day and night to clean the dirt and bacteria off my skin. I wet my face, pour a little into my hands, and rub the cleanser all over my face in circular motions for 30 seconds. Afterward, I’m left feeling refreshed and oh so clean.
Moisturize the Skin: Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer SPF 30
Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer evens skin tone, texture and reduces the appearance of dark spots. It also protects the skin from sun damage and early signs of aging. I pump a bit of this moisturizer into my hands in the morning, work it into every area of skin, and stare at the mirror to watch my face glow. It’s always glistening every time I use it.
Treat the Skin: Trentinoin 0.1%
Tretinoin is usually a prescription medication that is used to help treat acne. It’s also used to fight wrinkles, dark spots, and fine lines. After the third month of using tretinoin, I fell in love with not only the cream but also my face. Tretinoin usually starts working after 12 weeks. During those weeks, I suffered from purging, skin peeling, and drying.
Afterward, my skin transformed tremendously as the pimples slowly ceased, and the dark spots faded. I only put a pea-size of this on once every night because it’s not supposed to be worn in the sunlight.
Protect the Skin: Cetaphil Night Cream
Cetaphil Night Cream is a nighttime moisturizer that hydrates and protects the skin overnight. This creamy formula is perfect for skin that is usually dry. This is another cream I only use at night after the drying effect of tretinoin. I take an excellent pea-size of this as well and target those dry areas on my skin, which is usually around my mouth. My skin is typically soft and ready for bed.
By implementing these simple skincare products into my facial routine, I can definitely say my face and overall skin texture has changed a lot. Though it’s still improving, my acne frustrations seem like a thing in the past.
