In my search for the ever evasive young skin, my skincare regimen has included drastic measures like dermaplaning and chemical peels. But who hasn’t? Here are skin care techniques that are tried and true for women over forty if you’re so inclined to use them. Otherwise, be natural and be fierce!

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning uses an exfoliation blade to peel away layers of dead skin cells. This is before applying skin healing products. The following is a list of benefits from dermaplaning:

  • Removes facial hair.
  • Promotes smoother skin.
  • Removes dead skin cells.
  • Reduces the appearance of scars.
  • Diminishes fine lines and wrinkles.

Chemical Peels for Smoother Skin

Chemical peels create a bright, smooth complexion. Peels improve the color, skin tone, clarity, and texture of the skin. With practice, chemical peels can be part of a home skincare routine.

Botox for Fine Lines and Wrinkles

Days past Botox was a bad word in skincare. Now I get it! Botox removes fine lines and wrinkles creating younger-looking skin. Treatments such as Juvederm must be administered by a professional.

Red Light Therapy for Skin Concerns

Red light therapy on the face improves skin elasticity and firm skin on the face, jawline, and neck. Red light therapy can be performed using a wand or lamp. Always use eye protection when using this for skincare.

Women over forty don’t have to look their age. Often we don’t feel our age. Why should our skin look it? Fight aging skin every step of the way. Experiment with skincare regiments until you find one that works for you. Always drink plenty of water. Your skin will look hydrated. Smile. Smiling makes your skin appear younger. Laugh often! Your skin will thank you for it!
