Box braids are one of the prettiest styles you’ll ever see on women and youthful girls. Because of its incredible popularity, there’s an increasing amount of ways to rock them regardless of hair type!
No matter the season, you can never go wrong with a full head of box braids because you don’t have to worry about styling your natural hair for several weeks. When incorporating this style into your own hair, you’ll never run out of ways to dress it up and make it stand out with these exciting looks. So feel free to get inspired!
1. Colorful Box Braids
Box braids aren’t just a protective style; you’re supposed to have fun with them. What better way to do that than by adding a pop of color? You can try experimenting with unique colors for your braids to see which one works best for you, or you can incorporate multiple colors to create a cool ombre effect.
Box braids are already a bold style, so don’t be afraid to indulge with bright colors that stand out and get you noticed by friends and family. My favorite color is pink, so I may think about adding that color to a few of my braids the next time I install them into my hair.
2. Bun it Up With Your Braids
Don’t think just because the braids are too long; you can’t pin them up from time to time. A signature style a lot of females love doing with box braids is twisting them into a bun. A high bun allows for the hair to be off the shoulders once in a while, especially during those sweltering days, but it’s also adorable. Sometimes I like to go for two space buns or go for three to create a cool mohawk in the middle of my head.
3. Adding Beads to the Ends of Braids
Adding hair beads to your braids sometimes brings back that excitement some of us may have had when we were little girls with beads in our natural hair. You can get creative here with an assortment of colors to choose from. But if you’re going to add these on your braids, you might as well incorporate a couple of hair cuffs. Let’s just say, when it comes to those, I get a little obsessed because you can find so many in unique colors online.
4. Jumbo Box Braids
Jumbo box braids are my favorite because they take less time to install than normal size braids. Because they’re usually thick, you won’t have to worry about spending hours in a chair. So if you like to be quick about your hair, I highly suggest this style. Also, unlike other box braids, these will totally have you standing out in the crowd as the beautiful, chunky, braiding pattern can be seen from far away.
5. Shoulder Length Box Braids
Shoulder length box braids are perfect for those who aren’t into having overlong hair fall down their back. It is another look that takes less time when being installed as it serves as an adorable short bob. I love dressing this look up with multicolored rubber bands or hair cuffs at the ends sometimes to stand out against my normal black braids.
This type of style is also great for framing your face as they sometimes like to wrap around your chin. Some women also want to have one side of their braids longer than the other to represent an asymmetrical bob.
If you’re anything like me who likes to take the stress out of hair, throw in some beautiful box braids and take a well-deserved break from all the combing and brushing. Whether you’re going on vacation or simply want to try something new with your hair, I suggest you take advantage of these styles. You won’t regret it.
