The beauty industry is increasing the amount of cruelty-free and vegan products on the market, but one area that falls short is lip balm. The vast majority of lip balms have beeswax, making them not vegan. For my fellow vegans and/or conscious shoppers, look no further. I found a real winner.
With beauty products, lip balm is probably the hardest item to find in a vegan formula. That’s because beeswax and lanolin are almost always in accessible lip balms. One of the best-selling lip balms out there has the word “bee” in the name. You get the picture.
Despite the popularity of these non-vegan ingredients in lip balms, there are multiple companies offering vegan lip balm formulas. My recent favorite is from the Instagram and YouTube famous cruelty-free brand, Milk Makeup.
In their vegan and cruelty-free concoction, they utilize plant-derived oils to hydrate and protect the lips. Named Kush Lip Balm since it has calming Hemp-derived CBD, this incredible product combines shea, cocoa, and moringa butter to thoroughly moisturize the lips. Jojoba and olive oil work to reduce environmental stressors and fight free radicals. I’m not kidding when I say this is the most heavenly lip balm I’ve ever tried, vegan or not.
There’s also the smell of this vegan, cruelty-free lip balm. It is INSANELY scrumptious. The peppermint oil combined with the previously mentioned sweeter oils is refreshing, yet delicate. I’m seriously so in love with the smell that it’s a little embarrassing, but hey, scents are important.
The original Milk Kush Lip Balm is green in the tube but goes on completely clear. Milk Makeup also offers four tinted versions of their best-selling vegan lip balm, and they’re perfect for everyday lip color. PLUS, the packaging is magnetic. I love that little detail.
I can’t say any other lip balm looks, works, feels and smells as good as Milk Makeup’s Kush vegan and cruelty-free formula. Seriously, try it out if you can, and then you can thank me in the comments.
