I don’t know about you, but cruelty free mascara is my desert island makeup product. It completely transforms your eyes and face. Over the years, I’ve tried dozens of cruelty-free mascaras from varying price points. These are my top five.
This list will go from cheapest to most expensive cruelty-free mascara.
e.l.f. cosmetics Volumizing Mascara
This is my go-to mascara for whenever I’m low on cheddar cheese. I mean, at $3 this cruelty- free mascara is a bargain.
The brush isn’t too thick or thin, and the formula lasts all day long. It’s not spectacular, but it gets the job done and doesn’t flake on you. Plus, they harmed no animals to make this mascara, and it’s vegan!
Essence Lash Princess False Lash Effect Mascara
This cruelty-free mascara has become a bit of a cult fave. On Ulta, it has almost 3,000 reviews, and clocks in at 4.4. Stars. I find the tapered brush easy to control, and the formula is very thickening.
At $4.99, this cruelty free-mascara is another steal! Many reviewers claim it’s, “the best mascara in the world” and although it’s not my all-time favorite, it’s an affordable cruelty-free option I recommend.
Pixi By Petra Lash Lift Mascara
A year ago, my friend Emma recommended this cruelty-free mascara to me and I’ve been buying it ever since. It is pricier at $18, but it’s worth the splurge. It has two brushes, which makes it easy to add both length and volume to your lashes.
Another bonus of this mascara is it only takes one coat to get desired results. For the previous two cruelty-free options, I always apply two coats. This mascara cuts down on time and doesn’t harm animals! I don’t have any gripes with this mascara.
Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara
When I can afford to shell out the extra money, I get this mascara. At $23, it’s an investment, but it makes every lash day a beautiful one.
It’s a one stop mascara shop for length, volume, curl, and staying power. I’ve definitely received the most compliments on my lashes while wearing this one. If you’re hesitant to spend this much on a mascara, Tarte sells a mini-version, so you can decide for yourself if it’s a miracle worker.
Milk Makeup Kush Volume Mascara
At $24, this is our most bougie cruelty-free mascara. I received a sample from Sephora for their free birthday gift, and I immediately purchased it when I ran out. Out of all the cruelty-free mascaras, this one has the biggest brush. I know this can present challenges, especially if you have hooded eyes like me, but I love this mascara.
If I’m in a rush, then I can easily get mascara on my lids, but it’s not a deal breaker for me. Especially because my lashes look fake after two coats. Plus, it has CBD, which conditions your lashes so when you don’t have on mascara, your lashes will still look great!
