The final book in the young adult Hunger Games trilogy, Mockingjay follows the end of Katniss Everdeen’s story. In the previous books, Katniss has survived the Hunger Games twice, but is still not safe. The Capitol is angry and wants revenge, and President Snow has made it clear that no one is safe.

This young adult book follows popular girl Samantha Kingston on February 12, “Cupid Day” at her school filled with valentines and roses. Throughout the book, she continues to wake up and relives her last day seven times until she realized that through the smallest changes she holds more power than she thought.

In the first book of Ally Condie’s Matched series for young adults, we meet Cassia, a member of a society that controls all aspects of your life. She sees her best friend on the Matching screen and knows he is the one, until another face briefly flashes on the screen. In this thrilling book, Cassia is now torn between following the path she knows or a path no one has taken before.

4. The Lost Hero—Rick Riordan

The Lost Hero is the first book in The Heroes of Olympus young adult series from Percy Jackson author Rick Riordan. Jason, his girlfriend Piper, and his best friend Leo all end up at Camp Half-Blood, a camp for children of gods. At the start of the book, Jason can’t remember anything, but knows that something is very, very wrong.

5. Will Grayson, Will Grayson—John Green & David Levithan

This young adult book by John Green and David Levithan tells the story of the two Will Graysons. They have a chance meeting one night in Chicago, which changes both their lives forever. The book follows their respective romantic turn-of-heart and the production of the best high school musical.

6. I Am Number Four—Pittacus Lore

The first book in the Lorien Legacies young adult series, Pittacus Lore’s I Am Number Four is a story about superheroes. Nine otherworldly beings with super strength and powers came to assimilate, but then someone starts hunting them down. Number One, Two, and Three have all been killed. This book follows Number Four’s journey to outrun their hunters.

7. The Scorch Trials—James Dashner

The second book in The Maze Runner young adult series, The Scorch Trials follows the Gladers after they escaped the maze. Clockwork Angel is the first book in The Infernal Devices young adult series by Cassandra Clare. The book takes place in 1878, where Tessa Gray is searching for her missing brother.
