Book Series for Christian Children #1: The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis

About this Christian Children Series: I guess it’s not a surprise that this wonderful series would be on this list.  From The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe to The Last Battle, the Chronicles of Narnia have been a staple of children’s literature since the 1950’s.  The story is about children from our world entering into the magical world of Narnia in various ways to save the land from evil by fighting for the great lion, Aslan.  Whether you read it in publication order (starting with The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe), or chronological order (starting with The Magician’s Nephew), the world of Narnia is magical and fun for all who read it.  With its Christian allegory and themes, these books have caused the imaginations of children all over the world to fly.  These books are great for adults as well.

Book Series for Christian Children #2: The Seven Sleepers Series by Gilbert Morris

About this Christian Children Series: This lesser-known series by the prolific author Gilbert Morris is about seven young teens who are put into cryogenic sleep capsules at the start of a nuclear war. When awoken decades later, the world is a vastly different place.  The first book, The Flight of the Eagles, is about the teens waking up, coming to terms with their new world, and becoming a cohesive group that had been prophesied to bring good back to the world.  From there, each book is a different mission the Sleepers go on to help strange people in strange lands.  These books lose their charm as an adult, but kids and young teens will love them just as I did.

Book Series for Christian Children #3: The Lost Books by Ted Dekker

About this Christian Children Series: The Lost Books is connected to Dekker’s Circle Series, but is able to stand on its own as a good series for kids. The Lost Books begins with Chosen and follows some young teens who are members of Thomas of Hunter’s Forest Guard who get into their own adventures involving the Lost Books of History.  If you’re a fan of Dekker’s work or his Circle Series and connected novels, you would like these too, though they are geared towards a younger audience.

Book Series for Christian Children #4: The Time Quintet by Madeleine L’Engle

About this Christian Children Series: Beginning with the Newberry Award-winning A Wrinkle in Time, L’Engle’s Time Quintet is a wonderful series that deals with a lot of Christian themes even if the series isn’t overtly Christian fiction.  The story is beautiful and complex with interesting worlds and wonderful imagery.  These books are great for kids and adults alike, though it is said that children are more open to accepting the strange nature of the books than adults are.

Book Series for Christian Children #5: Cooper Kids Adventures Series by Frank Peretti

About this Christian Children Series: The Door in the Dragon’s Throat starts out this Christian book series for kids. The Cooper Kids Adventure Series combines Christian themes, archeology, and adventure.  These books are beloved by Christian kids everywhere.  Though I don’t think they hold up as well as an adult, this series is still a classic Christian series that kids can enjoy to this day.
