Xbox’s latest Xbox Series X showcase announced a lot of new information. Here is a breakdown of everything we learned from the livestream.

Xbox featured over 20 games in their latest showcase, ranging from fan favorites to niche classics. Either way, the event surely had something for you. Most importantly, however, Xbox announced that every game mentioned will be on Xbox Game Pass. Here is what Xbox revealed about every showcased game.

Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite was not a surprise. The anticipation for the game had been overwhelming. However, the reactions to the showcase were mixed. Halo Infinite is undoubtedly a nod to more classic Halo games. Unfortunately, many people thought it was much too similar. The graphics are lackluster compared to what fans expected. However, the gameplay looked impressive, and the game’s open-world still created a lot of positive feedback.

The Medium

The Medium is a game with a very original concept. You play as a character who can experience two unique versions of the same reality. Throughout the game, you will need to switch between the two realities to complete the tasks. Throw in some cool graphics and intriguing story, and The Medium is a game that anybody can be excited about.

Psychonauts 2

Psychonauts 2 will be a full-length sequel to the original series. The game is set to release in 2021, 15 years after the release of the original Psychonauts. The exact plot of Psychonauts 2 is unknown. However, the trailer features some trippy graphics and a very, very colorful world.

The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon

The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon isn’t exactly a new game – it’s the first DLC announced for Obsidians’s The Outer Worlds. However, it appears it could easily be a game on its own because this DLC will add an entirely new world to the game. The DLC seems to keep everything that fans loved about the original game, so there is a lot of excitement for its release.

Grounded is another game from Obsidian. Grounded appears to be an open-world multiplayer survival game. You play as a child or group of children who have shrunk to the size of ants. In a rust-style survival world, you must fend off insects and build shelters to survive.


Avowed game trailer.

Obsidian’s third announcement was their latest RPG—AvowedAvowed is still mostly a mystery. However, the trailer reveals some interesting aspects of the game. The game takes place in the same universe as other Obsidian games Pillars of Entity I and II. Avowed appears to feature plenty of swordplay and spell-casting, which should resonate with Obsidian fans.


Fable game trailer.

Fable was a massive hit for the original Xbox. The rest of the series remained immensely popular. However, it’s been nearly 10 years since the release of Fable IIIFable for the Xbox Series X does not appear to be a continuation of the series, nor a remake of the original. Instead, the new Fable is rumored to be an MMO that takes place in the Fable universe. Unfortunately, we only got a cinematic teaser, so it’s too early to say.

Everwild also only had a cinematic trailer, so it’s difficult to tell what exactly the game will be. However, judging by the trailer, it seems like Everwild will probably be an open-world adventure game. No matter what, the game has gotten a lot of attention. Rare, the studio behind Everwild, has a reputation for making impressive and innovative games.

State of Decay 3

State of Decay 3 from Microsoft Studios has many fans excited. The zombie stealth/survival series has shown a lot of promise. Unfortunately, the last two games in the series featured many bugs and mistakes. The newest trailer appears to show new zombie animals thrown into the mix. Hopefully, State of Decay 3 will live up to its high expectations.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2

The original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game took place in Chernobyl after the nuclear meltdown. The sequel to the horror-survival game will probably take place in the same location. However, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 appears to have some additional features. GSG Game World has released little information, but there seem to be some unknown enemies, or at least new obstacles, in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.

As Dusk Falls

As Dusk Falls is an interactive story-based indie game. It features impressive comic-book-style graphics and an interesting plot. The story appears to follow multiple characters who are all present at the same armed robbery. It will likely explore the emotions behind a character’s actions and the effects that the robbery has on them.

Forza Motorsport

The Forza Motorsport trailer didn’t reveal much. However, the name stood out. The choice to call the newest game Forza Motorsport instead of Forza Motorsport 8 appears as though this game will be a reboot of the original. Either way, the graphics look absolutely stunning. Forza fans are certainly pumped about this one.

Destiny 2: Beyond Light

Xbox had already announced an optimized version of the original Destiny 2. However, Destiny 2: Beyond Light is a new expansion that will come with the Xbox Series X version of the game. The expansion takes place in a cold environment. It also introduces a few new ice-based mechanics, including ice building and enemy freezing.

The Gunk

The Gunk appears to be a 3rd-person open-world adventure. You play as a character on a vast alien planet. You fight enemies to save the world from “the gunk,” a strange black substance that seems to kill off the plants and wildlife. The graphics look nice, and the gameplay seems fantastic.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will be yet another video-game adaptation of the popular tabletop game. Like the others, the game will be an FPS. However, this version seems to have some notable differences. It appears to take place in space, with some kind of alien zombie enemy. Most importantly, though, the game seems to be co-op, which should excite some fans.

In CrossfireX, you play as a super-soldier fated to end the world. The game features a cinematic campaign and an impressive multiplayer. You play on both sides of a military conflict. It seems like a unique take on the classic FPS format.

Tetris Effect: Connected

Tetris Effect is the most recent addition to the iconic video game franchise. However, with this announcement, it becomes something entirely different. The trailer teases at a multiplayer mode. Multiplayer is not new to Tetris, with both Tetris 99 and Tetris Mobile getting multiplayer modes. However, this will be one of the first major releases to feature both single-player and multiplayer game modes.

Tell Me Why

Tell Me Why is a story-driven adventure game. You play as a character who works to discover the truth about his past. The graphics and player models seem average, but the story captured the attention of many viewers. Still, not too much is known about the game.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis

Sega surely resurrected an old classic with Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. The original Phantasy Star Online released nearly 20 years ago for the Dreamcast. Now, Sega is revamping PSO2 for the newest consoles. Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis will not be an expansion or a replacement of the Phantasy Star Online 2 from 2012. Instead, it will be a revamp of the graphics and gameplay. Either way, the game will definitely give any Sega fans a nostalgia trip.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is not a recent game, as it released in March to significant praise. However, the trailer announces some additional features exclusive to the Xbox Series X release. The Xbox Series X version will have lower latency and much more responsive controls.
