On June 3, 2020 The Sims 4 players got a major update for all platforms. We get to enjoy new makeup items, new options in build/buy mode, and the return of some old favorites. Here are some items from the new update.
Sims 4 updates to the base game are always exciting because they are available to everyone for free. So without having to buy any Stuff, Game, or Expansion packs we still get access to exceptional new content! Updates also come with patch fixes, and this new update included some cool features.
New M.A.C Makeup
Sims 4 players have often criticized the makeup available in Create-A-Sim. Some even prefer to download Custom Content (CC) to use instead of the in-game options. So the Sims 4 team collaborated with M.A.C. Cosmetics to come out with some new makeup options in this update.
However, these new options did not please all Simmers. For those who want to be ethical consumers, it’s important to know that M.A.C. Cosmetics tests its products on animals. Because of this, I have made sure to not buy their products. This new update featuring styles from a brand that does not support my values does not make me happy and, according to Twitter, I’m not alone in this opinion.
Free Placement of Doors and Windows in Your Sims Home
This part of the new Sims 4 update is what I was most excited about. Before the update, we could only place windows and doors into slotted areas or alt-place them (hold the ‘alt’ button and move them, but it would only adjust them up or down the allotted area.) But now with the recent update, we have the freedom to place doors and windows wherever we want on a wall! Which means no more uneven window/door combinations.
Return of Firefighters and Repo Sims
The Sims 4 gets a blast from the past as we see the return of firefighters and repossession people to our gameplay. While we cannot play the firefighter career like we could in The Sims 3, it’s still nice to know these trusty NPCs will extinguish our sims’ fires. The new update also brings the return of repossession, so if our sims can’t pay their bills they will repossess their items to make up for the lack of payment.
