With everything that’s going on in the world, stress can be your number one enemy. It holds us down and attempts to consume us with all the power in its being. But just as we’re about to give up the fight, there’s that one special thing that’s always there to help.
I’m sure everybody has had to deal with the burdens of dear old stress. Regardless of how old you are, what your occupation is, or what you have gone through throughout your life, stress seems like it’s inevitable. The insane part about it is no one knows when it will ever arrive because when it happens, it just happens.
The fantastic thing about it is, there’s something that can be done!
Three words. Take a bath. Yes, that’s right. A bath. Of course not just any bath can combat stress, but this one I’m about to prescribe is extra special.
If you’re living under a rock, there’s a pandemic going on. So, at this point, you can’t exactly get your family out of the house. But you can at least keep them as far away from the bathroom as possible.
Before entering your bath, you must grab your “stress-free” items.
- Foaming bath liquid
- Relaxation music or sounds
- Bath pillow
- Bath bombs
- Bath spa massage device
Now, if you don’t have all these items in your bathroom, it’s fine, as these are all optional. But if you do, here’s how to use them to your advantage.
First you have to run your warm water. As the water is running, add some foaming bath liquid to get some fun bubbles going.
Choose however many candles you desire with whatever scent you prefer. I bought a couple of lavender-scented candles from Etsy called stress be gone. Take a few candles and place them around your tub or different areas throughout your bathroom.
After lighting your candles, grab a speaker, or your phone and put on some calming relaxation music that will put you in the best-relaxed mood. If you prefer hearing other things, I recommend rain, beach, or some nature sounds. My favorite is slow R&B on low volume.
If you’re going to target stress, close your eyes a bit and lie back. What better way to do that than with a comfy tub pillow. The cool thing is, there are vibrating pillows sold online as well!
If you rather keep your eyes open because you’re more into “munching” away your stress, go into the kitchen and grab a couple of snacks. Whether it’s potato chips or a few chocolate chip cookies, it’s perfectly fine to have a few snacks, just make sure it’s in moderation and not coming from an unhealthy state of mind.
Now it’s time to get a great smelling bath bomb. Not that this is needed for stress, but it’s satisfying to watch. Just plop one in your bath and admire the beautiful colors.
Last but not least, if you’re anything like me, you love hot tubs. And since you can’t make it to an actual hot tub or if you don’t have one already inside your home, you can make your own with a bath spa device that acts as a massage tool.
There you have it! Stress is finally in its place.
Regardless of what you do to handle stress, remember to take deep breaths one day at a time.
