Increasing your flexibility and range of motion is very important as we get older. As our bodies age, our muscles become weaker and not as flexible. Yoga is a splendid way to help our muscles increase their flexibility. In the practice of yoga, it is believed that human beings are optimally designed. We should be flexible. Stiffness and lack of mobility only arrive when the body is unhealthy or out of alignment.

Gentle stretching movements are the best way to avoid pain in joints and muscles. There are 3 types of yoga classes that I would recommend for anyone who wants to start yoga. These are Hatha, Iyengar, or Viniyoga classes. Hatha yoga classes usually emphasize strength and relaxation and are taught at a slower pace. So a great class to begin with.

Reason #3 Yoga Could be for You – Quietens the Mind and Relieves Stress

Yoga is a practice that not only helps your body. It also helps your mind too. We all need to take some time during our day to just be with our thoughts. Yoga is a peaceful practice that puts you in tune with both your mind and body.

The mind and body draw inspiration and guidance from the practice of yoga. As people age, our bodies become susceptible to toxins and poisons (caused by environmental and poor dietary factors). Yoga and stretching helps us through a cleaning process turning our bodies into a well synchronized and well-oiled piece of machinery.

As always, leave a comment and let me know what you think!
