‘Crazy Rich Asians’ was definitely one of the best movies of 2018. It was a fresh story with an original cast. The movie is a masterpiece with a perfect combination of moments. Here are 4 favorite moments from Crazy Rich Asians.
Crazy Rich Asians made a box office $238.5 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing romantic comedy movie in a decade. The movie received positive reviews for its acting, production and custom design. Crazy Rich Asians earned an approval rating of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie racked up over 30 nominations for different awards and won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Comedy Movie.
Crazy Rich Asians is a 2018 romantic comedy directed by Jon M. Chu with a screenplay written by Peter Chiarelli and Adele Lim. The movie is based on the 2013 best selling novel Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan. This movie reunites a fresh Asian cast, with Henry Golding and Constance Wu starring.
Crazy Rich Asians is a movie that presents to us a realistic, intelligent and strong middle-class woman. Rachel Chu is a modern economics professor at New York University. She is an Asian descendant that has lived her entire life in New York since her mother migrated from China with her. She’s a middle-class girl that works to get what she wants, including a longtime relationship with the Asian handsome man Nick Young.
In Crazy Rich Asians, the lovers travel to Singapore to attend Nick’s best friend’s wedding, and Nick uses this as the opportunity to present his girlfriend to his Asian family. But Rachel discovers that Nick’s family is not just another Asian family, they are super-rich, and a bit crazy.
There are numerous hilarious and overwhelming moments in Crazy Rich Asians, but these are my favorite four moments.
#4 Favorite Moment From Crazy Rich Asians:
Before getting to know Nick’s family. Rachel meets another crazy, rich Asian family when she goes to visit her college friend Peik Lin (Awkwafina) and her family on her first day in Singapore. Peik Lin lives with her parents and younger siblings, they’re an extravagant and rich Asian family.
This part of the movie has many funny moments, Peik Lin and her parents are hilarious, especially her father. But also this is when Rachel discovers Nick’s family is really wealthy and famous. Rachel is eating with Peik’s Asian family when she tells them she is dating Nick Young. And the entire Asian family gets crazy about it.
#3 Favorite Moment From Crazy Rich Asians:
From all the family members, one of the nicest to Rachel is Nick’s cousin Astrid. A really successful and beautiful Asian woman, married to a middle-class man. At the bride’s bachelor party, Nick’s ex-girlfriend and friends vandalize Rachel’s room for being with him. Enter Astrid, who while trying to comfort Rachel opens up with her and tells her that her marriage is in a crisis.
This is a really cool moment from the movie because Rachel is able to see that there is someone in Nick’s Asian family that accepts her. But it is also an overwhelming moment because Rachel doubts if the collision of her world and Nick’s Asian rich world is sustainable.
#2 Favorite Moment From Crazy Rich Asians:
Every romantic movie needs a Cinderella transformation moment. An amazing moment when the main character gets transformed into a beautiful princess. And Rachel’s Cinderella transformation moment is funny and fun. This part of the movie is the perfect combination of a funny and cliche moment.
For the wedding, after being rejected by Nick’s mother, Rachel decides to stand up and show she is worth it. So with the help of the crazy and amazing Lin Family, and Nick’s cousin, Rachel gets transformed into a princess. The exact moment that is my favorite, is when Rachel arrives at the wedding and greets Nick’s family. After being rejected by the family, Rachel takes a seat with an important Asian woman and shows off how enchanting and intelligent she is.
#1 Favorite Moment From Crazy Rich Asians:
Crazy Rich Asians is a movie with a really overwhelming and hilarious happily ever after moment. After many ups and downs, Rachel decides to go back to America without Nick, following a deceitful plot by Nick’s mother
Rachel is on the airplane to go back to America when Nick has his prince charming movie moment and bounces into the airplane to get his love back. There, in the middle of a realistic and hilarious moment, Nick separates from his crazy rich Asian family just to be with Rachel. And that is the moment in the movie when he proposes to her. So, they have a Happily Ever After, and that is my favorite moment in the whole movie because it is a uniquely romantic moment.
Crazy Rich Asians is a masterpiece, all the recognition the movie got is well deserved. This is a fresh and different romantic comedy, but also it is an inclusive product. Thanks to this movie the Asian cast in Hollywood had a bigger recognition. So go and watch the movie because it is full of amazing and hilarious moments.
