Korean entertainment continues to rise in popularity. We love K-pop, K-bands and K-dramas. But the Korean entertainment also offers movies. Here are four Korean movies to watch on Netflix.
Netflix is a big example of a barrier breaking platform. In this streaming service, we can watch entertainment from many countries and cultures. In that way, we can all enjoy watching talented productions that formerly wouldn’t gain popularity outside of their countries.
But if we are talking about barrier breakers, one of the biggest nowadays is Korean entertainment. We have Korean Pop, which has one of the biggest fandoms worldwide. BTS is a Korean band that not only conquered the international music industry, but BTS has also broken the language and cultural barriers.
Korean Dramas and movies have also gained popularity and recognition. Parasite became the first international movie ever to win four Oscars, including Best Picture. But Korean entertainment has many more movies to offer. Here are four Korean movies to watch on Netflix:
Korean Movie 1: Turn in for Love
Turn in for love is a romantic Korean movie. It follows the story of two lovers in year 1944. One of them is Mi-Soo a singer and DJ on the radio, and the other one is Hyun-Woo a man just released from a juvenile detention center. They meet when he starts working part-time in the bakery that Mi-Soo runs with her sister.
At first, Hyun-Woo’s presence makes Mi-Soo nervous. His past scares her, especially because it largely remains a mystery. But after some time working together, they become closer and developed feelings for each other. Although it’s not all chocolates and roses when Hyun-Woo’s old friends show up at the bakery.
Korean Movie 2: Forgotten
Forgotten is a Korean mystery-thriller. The plot follows the story of two brothers and their parents. One evening, the older brother, Yoo-Seok, is kidnapped. He returns home 19 days later remembering nothing about the time he was kidnapped.
After that, the younger brother, Jin-Seok, notices many behavioral and personality changes. And starts wondering if the guy that came back is another person.
Korean Movie 3: Pandora
Pandora is a Korean sci-fi movie. The thrilling plot follows Jay-Hyeok who lives with his family in a small town and works at a local nuclear power plant. One day, an earthquake strikes the town and causes explosions at the nuclear power plant.
Jay-Hyeok and his co-workers have to make efforts to prevent a bigger disaster, which makes them return to the nuclear power plant. Jay-Hyok and his co-workers struggle to save not only their nation but their families’ lives.
Korean Movie 4: Train to Busan
Train to Busan is another Korean sci-fi thriller movie. The plot follows the story of the single father Seok-Woo and his daughter Su-An. They take a train to Busan to visit the mother of Su-An. But when the train is leaving the station, a girl infected with a zombie virus gets on board with them.
The zombie virus spreads quickly as the passengers struggle for survival. In the middle of the journey, Seok-Woo falls asleep and Su-An leaves him to go to the bathroom. But at that very moment, the train-car is swarmed by a horde of zombies. Now Seok-Wook has to search for his daughter and fight for his own life at the same time. So this movie also has a heartwarming dad story, making it our official Korean movie choice to add to our list of movies to watch with your dad on Netflix for Father’s Day.
