Relationships are beautiful. Whether you have just started dating, are engaged or are married, every relationship has its difficulties. Some days are uphill, and some days may be downhill. No matter what the situation is, you should always have trust and faith in your significant other. Setting relationship goals is a must for you and your partner.

In this article, I have listed down 3 major relationship goals for couples they need to set for themselves:

Relationship Goal #1: Don’t pretend

The first relationship goal that I would like to give you is to be yourself. Don’t hide your true self. Compromising is a vital factor to make a relationship work, but it may not always be the right choice. Sometimes giving up on true beliefs for the sake of your partner may lead to resentment one day or the other.

So, don’t pretend. It will end in a disaster. It is better to deal with it today rather than build up the tension and make it worse later on.

Be yourself and let you partner be themselves.

Everyone has a busy schedule. That does not mean to forget about your partner. Take time out of your busy schedule and talk to your partner.

Some ways you can talk are:

  • Go on regular dates with your partner.
  • Talk every day, even just for 10 minutes.
  • Spend some alone time.  

Relationship Goal #3: Give each other personal space

When you live with someone you love, you may have to give up your personal space. This becomes more difficult when you have kids.

There will be times when you just want some alone time. Just to relax.

So, make rules. Spend as much time together as possible, but include some personal time.

Something like:

  • A walk in the park.
  • Read a book.
  • Put in your headphones and listen to some music.
  • Meditate.
  • Meet your friends.

This relationship goal will help strengthen, because you and your partner both will get time to recharge and remind yourselves of who you are.
