Travel the southwest loop of the Upper Peninsula, Michigan, to enjoy outdoor activities along the Lake Michigan lakeshore. Follow M35 from Manistique to Menominee, Michigan. Take a stop by the famous, and rather small town of Escanaba. For a distorted education on Escanaba, watch Escanaba in da Moonlight (directed by Jeff Daniels, 2001). It is a funny and lame movie!

Hiking in Manistique

Ashford Lake Pathway in Manistique, Michigan consists of three, six, and nine-mile loops of cross-country skiing and hiking paths. Ashford Lake is accessible by taking M 94.

Indian Lake State Park and Trails includes one of the largest inland lakes in the Upper Peninsula. 8,400 acres, six miles long and three miles wide, the lake has a history of native Americans who lived there.

Golfing in Menominee

Stony Point Golf Course is a 3,055 yard, par 35, 9 hole course. The course winds through Michigan’s Upper Peninsula into ancient cedar and spruce forests. Riverside Golf Club and North Shore Golf Club of Menominee are available for golfing and venues.

Boating in Manistique and Menominee

Menominee, Michigan has three boat ramps. There are two boat ramps on the Menominee River and one at the Menominee Municipal Marina. All three rivers empty into Lake Michigan.

The Manistique River is 60 miles of waterway that runs from Manistique to Lake Michigan. Fish, kayak, paddleboard, and canoe down the Manistique River.
