Are you stuck at home and miss seeing animals at the zoo? These Florida zoos are giving us a backstage pass and allowing us to visit virtually!
One of my favorite things to do in the Florida summer is to visit zoos and take pictures of the animals. But, that’s probably not going to happen anytime soon. Though my summer plans might be squashed, I can still get my zoo fix! Thanks to technology, Florida zoos are giving us access to their animals. Now, we can virtually visit from the comfort of our own homes! Zoos in your PJs? Sign me up! If you are missing zoos, like me, then you’ll definitely want to check these out!
Here are four zoos in Florida bringing us a little closer to their furry and slimy animal friends:
1. Central Florida Zoo in Sanford, Florida
The Central Florida Zoo has created Zoo to You! Here you’ll find crafts for kids of any age – even those young at heart. You’ll also find links to videos with animal keepers and their animal friends! Who wants to learn more about animals? *Raises hand* If you raised your hand too, you’ll definitely want to keep reading!
2. Mote Marine Aquarium in Sarasota, Florida
Need a quiet moment or two? If you are looking for some peace, look no further than the Mote Marine Aquarium. You can have access to live feeds of their manatees, otters, and sharks swimming by – it is super relaxing.
3. Palm Beach Zoo in Palm Beach, Florida
Have you ever played guess the animal to the snout? If you answered no, then now is your chance. It might not sound like it’s for you, but it’s fun for any animal lover! Palm Beach Zoo has a ton of things available to do to get anyone excited about the animals at their zoo! Try taking a quiz on your favorite animal and see how well you know them.
4. Zoo Miami in Miami, Florida
Any Lion King fans out there? Now is your time to get acquainted with the real-life Timon! Now, I doubt any of the meerkats will break out in song, but you can see them through MeerKam! Zoo Miami is giving you virtual access to their precious meerkat family. You can watch these fuzzy little guys run around and get into all sorts of trouble! They’re so fast, you never know what they’ll do!
Taking a trip to the zoo may not happen for real anytime soon. That’s what makes all these virtual animal encounters so awesome. Even when you physically visit, you don’t always get this kind of access! Have you ever seen an otter get a bath? With these virtual videos, you will! I’m looking forward to my next virtual zoo visit. Where will you be virtually visiting next?
